Catholic Life

The school’s foundations are built on the Catholic faith and beliefs and it is our shared responsibility to transmit the Catholic faith to the children in our care. Our Mission Statement and values are at the heart of all we do, placing the children firmly at the centre and providing opportunities for every child to encounter Christ and deepen their relationship with Him.

Religious icons can be found throughout the school. Displays of work in RE are of high quality and can be seen in classrooms and all around the school, including the school’s main reception area. Each class has a prayer focus area, dressed with a coloured cloth appropriate to the colours of the liturgical year, and relevant religious icons.

Our Mission statement is explicit in the values that we undertake in order to ‘Love Jesus in all we do’. These values are woven into all subject areas and form the basis of ‘The Good Shepherd Way’ and our behaviour expectations. Our values are explicitly displayed in classrooms and around school.

Children take part in a variety of charity events throughout the year. We raise food for the local food bank at Harvest and Christmas, the children choose which charities they wish to support and raise funds for them during Lent, we undertake fundraising for CAFOD, the Church and other local charities in our community. More recently children have independently developed their own fundraising ideas, leading to ‘The big sleep-in’ and cake sales.
