We have strong links with our parish community. Our parish priest, Canon Philipp Ziomek, regularly joins us to celebrate mass in school. You will also find him in classes supporting and deepening our learning in R.E so that we can encounter Jesus in our lives. At key times throughout the year, namely Advent and Lent, Canon Philipp offers us the sacrament of reconciliation within our school.
We work closely with Canon Philipp and our parish catechists in support of our Year 3 children when they receive the sacraments of reconciliation and holy communion. Parents and children take part in a comprehensive program of study in preparation for these sacraments and school staff support the parish in delivering this.
Our school also takes responsibility for leading key events in our parish community such as the first Sunday Advent mass, carol service and the stations of the cross. Once a month, our Year 6 children also take responsibility for the readings at Sunday mass.
We are also excited to be starting our ‘Mini Vinnies’ after school club, working closely with our parish SVP group to help people in our community in the spirit of social justice.
